Uganda’s school-going youth had plenty to celebrate during the holiday as Kiromo took its youth-focused experience to Kampala, Fort Portal and Jinja, drawing large crowds for a mix of music, talent, fashion, games and inter-school competitions.

The three-city tour, which ran from August 28 to September 5, gave teenagers and young people an opportunity to meet, have fun and showcase their talents while celebrating the holiday with their peers.

The experience opened in Kampala on Friday, August 28, with the Holiday Kadanke at Sharing Hall in Nsambya.

The venue was filled with teenagers who turned up for an evening of music and entertainment, with performances from artists, DJs and MCs adding to the excitement.

Games, dancing and other activities kept the crowd engaged throughout the event, setting the pace for the two-city experiences that followed.

Fort Portal crowns its youth champions

After Kampala, the Kiromo team travelled to Fort Portal City on Sunday, August 30, for the hi Skool Kiromo All Schools Grand Finale and Color Fest at New Fort View.

The event brought together students from several schools who competed in different activities while also getting a chance to demonstrate their talents and creativity.

The highlight was the crowning of the city’s Mr and Miss High School and Mr and Miss Teen.

The winners were:

• Miss High School – Fort Portal City: Kemigisha Doreen of Mpanga SS
• Mr High School – Fort Portal City: Musinguzi Shafic of Fort Portal SS
• Miss Teen – Fort Portal City: Komuhendo Prishillar of King of Kings High School
• Mr Teen – Fort Portal City: Musana Ramadhan of King of Kings High School

The competition then gave way to the Color Fest, with students joining in the colourful celebration as DJs, MCs and performers entertained the crowd.

The Fort Portal event combined competition with entertainment, giving students a platform to express their school pride while enjoying the holiday.

Jinja students showcase their talents

The final stop was Jinja City on Saturday, September 5, where Kingfisher hosted the hi Skool Kiromo All Schools Grand Finale.

Students from different schools took part in competitions involving dance, rap, modelling and singing, turning the event into a showcase of youthful creativity and confidence.

The day’s competitions ended with the crowning of Jinja’s teenage and high-school winners.

They included:

• Miss High School – Jinja City: Kisakye Evelyn of PMM Girls
• Mr High School – Jinja City: Babiga Mwene of Busoga College–Mwiri
• Miss Teen – Jinja City: Ainembabazi Patience of St. Joseph’s Nakanyonyi
• Mr Teen – Jinja City: Asuman Lyagoba of Jinja SS

After the crowning ceremony, the event moved into the Color Fest, with music, performances and entertainment keeping students on their feet.

Entertainment drives the tour

The atmosphere across the three cities was shaped by a team of entertainers led by MC Ollo, alongside Clinton, DJ Mayson, MC Jace, Sham Love and other DJs, MCs and performers.

Their role was not only to keep the crowds entertained but also to connect with the young audiences and give each stop its own character.

While the activities differed from one city to another, the central focus remained the same — giving teenagers and students a space to have fun, compete and express themselves.

Mirinda backs the youth experience

The tour was powered by Mirinda through its “Sip a Mirinda, Spread the Smile” campaign, with Sumz Snacks and Indomie Noodles also supporting the events.

The partnership brought together entertainment and youth engagement, creating platforms where students could celebrate their schools, interact with fellow young people and display their talents.

A holiday tour built around young people

From the opening Holiday Kadanke in Kampala to the school competitions and Color Fests in Fort Portal and Jinja, Kiromo’s three-city tour offered teenagers a holiday experience centred on entertainment, competition and self-expression.

The events also provided opportunities for young people to step into the spotlight, with winners taking home the recognition that came with being crowned their city’s Mr or Miss High School or Teen.

With music playing, colours filling the air and students turning out in large numbers, Kiromo ended its holiday tour after making its presence felt across three of Uganda’s cities.
