M7 Names Maj Gen Katsigazi New DIGP, Byabashaija Retained

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the commander in chief of armed forces ‘CIC’ has appointed Maj. Gen. Goeffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi the new Deputy Inspector General of Police -IGP. Katsigazi replaces the late Gen. Peter Lokech who died last year in August whilst still in office as the deputy IGP.

Gen. Katsigazi who has been the Deputy Commander of Airforce will now leave his office to deputize IGP Martins Okoth Ochola in the Uganda Police Force.

In a related development, the President has also renewed the contract of Dr. Johnson Byabashaija as the Commissioner-General of the Uganda Prisons.

The development was confirmed by the Deputy Press Secretary to President, Mr. Faruk Kirunda in a tweet sent out on Tuesday evening.
