President Museveni has arrived in Arusha, the capital city of Tanzania, to partake in the 23rd Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC). The heads of state from East Africa are set to deliberate on critical issues this Friday, including climate change, food security, regional security, and financial sustainability.

In a statement shared on his social media account, President Museveni emphasized that the primary objective of the summit is to propel the aspirations of the East African Community.

“I have arrived in Arusha Tanzania for the 23rd Ordinary Summit of the EAC Heads of State. I am looking forward to fruitful discussions as we advance the goals of the East African Community,” President Museveni said.

Notably, key Ugandan government officials are also in attendance, including the State Minister of Internal Affairs, General David Muhoozi, the State Minister for Finance, Henry Musasizi, and the State Minister for Defence, Jacob Oboth Oboth.

Celebrating 25 years of collaboration, the East African Community recently marked its milestone partnership with the German Development Corporation (GIZ), which has channeled approximately EUR 580 million into various sectors within the region, spanning health, education, tourism, and agriculture since 1999.

This year’s summit is geared towards advancing regional integration and cooperation among member states under the focus of the EAC Common Market. President Museveni’s active participation underscores Uganda’s unwavering dedication to the EAC’s objectives and its commitment to bolstering regional integration.

The East African Community, boasting its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania, comprises six member states: Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. The summit stands as a pivotal platform for member states to collectively address shared challenges, promote regional development, and fortify the EAC’s pivotal role in propelling integration endeavors
