Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has stated that the country has the potential to feed over 200 million people, citing the fertile land and increasing technical know-how of the population.

During a meeting with officials from the Presidential Advisory Committee on Exports and Industrial Development, Museveni emphasized the importance of Uganda’s agricultural sector, which produces a wide range of products such as fruits, vegetables, meats, dairy, nuts, grains, and essential vegetable oils.

Museveni urged the government and people of Serbia to support Uganda’s flourishing agricultural sector and announced that the country’s private sector is introducing large commercial farming to feed the region. Serbia has expressed interest in Uganda’s pineapples, coffee, grains, bananas, flowers, and dairy products.

In addition, President Museveni encouraged Uganda Airlines to partner with Air Serbia to fast-track business, tourism, and personal exchanges between the two countries.

“We are only 45 million people, but we have the potential to feed 200 million people and more given the fertile lands and the increasing technical know-how of our young people,” Museveni said. “We are also in the large emerging market of East Africa and the greater African common market, which is an area of 1.4 billion people now.”
