Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime Hailed for Leadership in Gender-Based Violence Fight

Women leaders in the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) have commended Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime for her exceptional leadership in advancing the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) and advocating for women’s rights.

As the 1st Vice President of the PAP Women’s Caucus, Kamusiime has been instrumental in pushing for policy reforms to enhance women’s participation in leadership and decision-making. She has called on African governments to amend laws that protect and empower women, ensuring equal opportunities in political, social, economic, and cultural spheres.

Speaking at the International Women’s Day Commemoration in Midrand, South Africa, from March 7 to 11, 2025, Kamusiime emphasized the importance of investing in women’s development.

The event, hosted by PAP and the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD, provided a platform for leaders to discuss strategies for promoting gender equality and strengthening women’s role in Africa’s growth.

Kamusiime’s dedication to championing gender equality has earned her widespread recognition, with fellow parliamentarians applauding her efforts in steering the women’s caucus towards meaningful change.
