Kansiime Joy Nakato was crowned Miss Tourism South West Region on Saturday night at Ankole Resort in Ntungamo District.

She emerged winner ahead of Kembabazi Mitchelle, who finished as first runner-up, and Amutuheire Queen, who took the position of second runner-up.

During the question-and-answer session, contestants demonstrated confidence and knowledge, impressing judges with their responses and overall performance.

The Miss Tourism Uganda 2026/27 search officially kicked off early last month with regional tours across the country. As part of the competition, contestants underwent a comprehensive boot camp in Kisoro, where they stayed at Mondo Lodge.

While in Kisoro, the contestants engaged in a range of cultural and environmental activities. They visited the Kisoro Cultural Centre, where they were introduced to traditional marriage customs and practices such as milking. They also interacted with the Uganda Wildlife Authority and Mega Safaris, gaining exposure to tourism activities including hiking in Mgahinga National Park.

In addition, the contestants toured Kisoro Town and participated in a community clean-up drive under the “Let the Pearl Shine” initiative.

So far, regional winners have been crowned in areas including Bunyoro and Eastern Uganda.

All regional queens will compete at the national finale scheduled for September 4, 2026, at Kampala Serena Hotel.
