The President wrote thus on social media about Ruto’s historic visit:”Kenyan Deputy President Dr. William S. Ruto paid me a courtesy visit at State Lodge Mubende.
Dr. Ruto is in the country to commission the William S. Ruto Institute of African Studies, whose goals among others will be; to collaborate with similar Institutes in Africa and globally to deepen the understanding of Africa in all its complexity and evolve common perspectives on global issues; strengthen relationships between academic and indigenous intellectuals as the basis for reclaiming indigenous knowledge, and integrate this into local communities as well as establish an environment for flourishing study and debate on African languages, arts, philosophies, social and political systems.
I welcome Dr Ruto to Uganda and would like to pledge $100,000 towards this initiative.”
