One person has been arrested in relation to the kidnap and murder of an eight-year-old girl, Dylan Kirabo, at Luwafu in Makindye Division.
Kirabo was kidnapped and strangled by unknown person’s moments after she was sent to buy spices at a shop located about 20 meters from her grandmother’s home. Her body was found in an incomplete building in Makindye Division, over the weekend.
According to her father Hakim Sibukyu, Kirabo, a pupil at Kampala Junior Academy-Najjanankumbi, went missing on Thursday last week. The father learnt about the incident at 2 p.m. and reported a case of a missing daughter at Makindye police leading to a hunt that yielded no results on the first day.
Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire says that the suspect has been identified as Mutyaba Banda, a resident of Sendagala zone, the same area where Kirabo’s body was found.
Owoyesigyire said that they are also relying on Closed Circuit Television – CCTV cameras from nearby residences to identify Kirabo’s killers including a man and woman who were sighted at the scene, hours before the body was recovered.
Kirabo’s murder kidnap and murder came on the heels of on-going investigations into the killing of Betty Nalwanga, 5, at Kagoma in Wakiso District. Nalwanga disappeared from her aunt’s home, Florence Nantale, in Kagoma along Bombo Road.

Detectives revealed that Nalwanga was playing with other children around their home while Nantale was in the house. Locals discovered Nalwanga’s body lying in a bush in Kawanda. Kirabo was buried on Sunday at her father’s ancestral home in Rakai District.urn
