Former Uganda Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has on Thursday February 6, 2019 caused quite a stir after turning up in Nakaseke district for UPDF Tarehe Sita celebrations.
Mbabazi was given a thunderous welcome at Butalangu grounds from the long awaiting crowd.
The rare appearance also earned him a salute from the men in uniform who were celebrating 39 years of armed resistance.
The event was also graced by former Vice-President Gilbert Bukenya.
Bukenya was seen marching on the red carpet with President Museveni’s brother, Gen Salim Saleh, and enjoying the spectacle.
Last month, Museveni personally invited Bukenya and Mbabazi for two major NRM party organs’ meetings.
Bukenya showed up at the delegates conference in Namboole but Mbabazi was a no-show.
The former powerful NRM secretary general finally made it up to the president and graced the army celebrations.
