Gov't Clears Tycoon Ben Kavuya To Fly Wife, Daughter Back Home

The Gov’t of Uganda in cooperation with the Foreign Affairs Ministry and Health Ministry have authorised city tycoon Ben Kavuya’s family members to fly back to Uganda aboard Ethiopian Airways.

Tycoon Kavuya’s wife had travelled to USA earlier this year to give birth but unfortunately, President Museveni announced a total country lockdown plus banning of flights in and out of Uganda due to Coronavirus pandemic

Below is a letter signed by Hon. Kutesa on May 13^th, 2020, permitting Kavuya’s wife Barbra Kavuya, Blanche Kibaju and Isaiah Tiba Byabashaija to fly into the country.

Kutesa’s letter, addressed to the Manager, Ethiopian Airlines, reads in part thus; “ AUTHORISATION TO TRAVEL TO UGANDA

This letter grants permission to the board the following persons on Ethiopian Airlines flight from Addis Ababa to Entebbe International Airport on Monday 18^th May, 2020;

Barbra Kiabju, Ugandan passport No. A00125384
Blanche Kibaju, USA Passport No. 586872761
Isaiah Tiba Byabashaija, USA Passport No. 650368928”

The letter is copied to the Ugandan Ambassador in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Meanwhile the Ministry Of Health has approved Plot 4 Younger Bugolobi as the quarantine site for Kavuya’s wife, daughter and granddaughter for mandatory quarantine scheduled to arrive from the United States of America and start mandatory quarantine.

In a letter dated May 14, the ministry of health wrote thus..

APPROVAL OF QUARANTINE SITE AT PLOT 4 YOUNGER IN BOGOLOBI R

Reference is made to your letter dated 11th May 2020 to the Ministry of Health requesting for approval for the quarantine site of your wife, daughter and grandson scheduled to arrive from the United States of America and start mandatory quarantine.

After thorough Inspection of premises at Legacy Courts Plot 4 Younger Avenue in Bugolobi on the 14th May 2020 by the compliance technical team from the National Quarantine pillar COVID-19, we have found the Premises suitable and have met the standard for a full functional quarantine site.

The purpose of this letter is to approve the above mentioned premises a quarantine site to host Kavuya Barbara, Blanche Kibaju and Isaiah Tiba Byabashaija for the days quarantine upon arrival in Uganda.

This is to inform you that upon arrival, the following must be observed:

1. The passengers must adhere to Port Health Regulations.

2. They will undergo Mandatory Institutional Quarantine for 14days at Legacy apartments Plot 4 Younger Avenue.

3. A dedicated car must be delivered to the airport for them and the passengers drive themselves to the quarantine site and stay with the car until completion of quarantine.

4. During quarantine, test samples will be taken from them before discharge.
