Meet Tycoon Molly Kamukama – The New City Landlord On The Block

When we talk of City Landlords and Tycoons, names like Mogul Sudhir Ruparelia, Sir Gordon Wavamunno, Mukwano, Mulwana can’t be far away from from your mind because these are known self-made businessmen!

Now forget these billionaires, our own Madam Molly Kamukama the State Minister for Economic Monitoring and former Principal Private Secretary to the President recently shopped in a prime building along Dewinton Road at a whooping cost of $3m (about Sh11b).

The building is right opposite the National Theatre with words ‘City Annex Hotel’; we can confirm to you that she bought this property in cash.

In 2018, she bought another building at Arua Park at $2.5m (about Sh10b) and still in the same year, she shifted to her new mansion in Naguru , a leafy Kampala suburb  valued at Sh1b.

Besides that, she owns a chunk of land and a Hotel in Kalangala District valued at over 10billion shillings. It said that she acquired this using the money she saved during the 2016 elections while she managed chairman’s office.

Before she became the PPS, Molly worked at the Electoral Commission.

Meanwhile, a credible source has revealed to this website that, while she was still PPS, if you had $50k in cash, it would take Molly just 6 hours to fix for you an appointment with President Museveni!.

A source adds that it was always her husband who received the money on her behalf at his office along Parliamentary Avenue.

A close male friend to Kamukama intimated to us that the woman is boasting huge bank accounts regardless of the recent property acquisitions.

It is said that she could not chase after a letter/directive from the President involving money when she did not have a cut and that’s why genuine complaints could take long without getting their order or get compensated at all.

Meanwhile, Mrs Molly declared her intention to contest for the Kazo district Woman Parliamentary seat in 2021.

Kazo is among the six newly created districts that became operational in July 2019. It was carved out of Kiruhura district. The others are; Obongi, Rwampara, Kitagwenda, Madi-Okollo and Karenga.

It is the first time Kamukama is joining elective politics. Following President Museveni’s re-election in 2016, Kamukama was named PPS, replacing Mary Amajo, who was then appointed Senior Presidential Advisor on Public Service.

Prior to the PPS appointment, Kamukama was Political Assistant to the President. During the cabinet reshuffle of December, 2019, President Museveni named his PPS Kamukama State Minister for Economic Monitoring. She was replaced by Dr. Kenneth Omona .

As thecapitaltimes, we wish you good luck Mrs Molly 🙏
