The Minister for Public Service, Hon Wilson Muruli Mukasa, has taken oaths of allegiance and for Member of Parliament at a plenary sitting on Tuesday, 3 August 2021.

Parliament rules provide that Ex Officio Members (are not elected MPs) take oaths of allegiance and for Member of Parliament prior to taking a seat in the House.

Muruli Mukasa was re-appointed to Cabinet by President Yoweri Museveni in June 2021. He served in the same portfolio during the 10th Parliament in which he represented Budyebo County, Nakasongola district.

The 11th Parliament has 556 Members of whom 529 are elected and 27 are Ex Officio Members. Ex Officio Members do not have voting rights in the House.

The Deputy Speaker, Anita Among, welcomed Muruli Mukasa to the House and urged him to serve diligently.

“I would like to welcome you to this House.  I will hand you the instruments of power; the Constitution and the Rules of Procedure, to help you in your day to day activities,” she said.
