Victoria University Continues With Free Vaccination Of Staff, Students & General Public As Full Reopening Knocks Door

Victoria University Kampala, Uganda’s world-class transformational institution of higher learning has embarked on a free covid-19 vaccination exercise to staff, students and the general public as the date for reopening universities and other tertiary institutions edges closer.

According to Victoria University, the free vaccination exercise is aimed at hitting the target of 4.9 million people, a move that will facilitate the full re-opening of schools and the entire national economy.

The University management further emphasized the message via its socials that it is a mandatory move to ensure all staff are fully vaccinated and every new student who joins will have to undergo the vaccination exercise at the university premises before being offered the place of admission.

This, according to the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Lawrence Muganga, is a reactionary move as directed by President Museveni that all staff and learners in institutions should undergo the covid-19 vaccination before the November reopening.

The free vaccination exercise which is open to the general public is happening at the University premises located at 3rd Floor – Victoria Towers, along Jinja Road in Kampala between 9:30 am to 4:30pm daily.

Asked about the requirement for the vaccination, the management told this website that one should bear a National ID, Permit or a valid identification document, as these will be requirement at the entrance for security purposes.

President Museveni in his September address on Covid-19 situation directed that schools will fully reopen for all learners countrywide, starting with tertiary institutions (Universities, Colleges and vocational institutions) on November 2, 2021.
