Poolice have arrested a political activist and former presidential candidate Col Dr Kizza Besigye down town Kampala around Arua park.
Besigye and his team were protesting against the high commodity prices in the country.He was arrested by a team of security who whisked him to Central police station for interrogation.
Police say that the former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president was in the city centre to paralyze business as people cheered him.He arrived in the city with megaphones mounted on his car, calling on people to ‘wake up and protest the skyrocketing commodity prices.”
Dr Besigye shouted from his car, “We need to fight this war and make sure that the crisis of high prices is dealt with, as the people cheered him.
He mission was, however, cut short when police surrounded his car and pulled him out. Dr Besigye beat security in Kasangati which had put him under house arrest since last week to surface in one of busiest streets in Kampala.
