In his speech, Professor Lawrence Muganga, Victoria University’s Vice Chancellor applauded mogul Sudhir Ruparelia the chairman of Ruparelia Group for taking a right decision to invest in education through which hundreds of students’ future has been sharpened.

“In a special way, I want to appreciate Chairman Ruparelia Group of Companies, Dr Sudhir Ruparelia and Rajiv Ruparelia for standing with us both on bad and good days. We have made a couple of achievements because of your huge support, thanks for taking a right decision to invest in education,” Prof Muganga commended tycoon Sudhir who was a guest at the University’s 6th graduation ceremony.

To graduands, Prof Muganga said; ”As we send you out to the world that awaits your skills and competencies, we are confident your unquestionable potential will exceed our imagination.”

Muganga added, “At this moment in history, the world has a hunger for a resource like you: one unafraid of new challenges, one with the tenacity to surmount the insurmountable; one with the foresight to anticipate the unforeseeable, one with the flexibility to adapt to the world.”

Prof. Muganga hinted at the Charter that was granted to the University last month,” This year, the Charter has been granted, our ambitions have been fastened and resolved fortified to serve an education that works and assemble change drivers.”

Prof Muganga further said that the University continues to invest heavily in technology in line with Uganda’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aiming to achieve vision 2040.

”Our learning has evolved and opportunities for our students rapidly mushroomed. Our belief to invest in technology, practical learning, research and innovation has leapt Victoria University to the academic apex. We are undone. We keep challenging our milestones to touch great spheres,” said Muganga.

On his part, the University’s Chancellor Prof. John Opuda-Asibo hailed the VU’s experiential learning model which he said will in the near future rank the University among the best globally.

He urged students to go out of the University ready to succeed not to fail.

”As you go out of our University be ready to succeed not to fail. Be innovative, disciplined, hard working and resilient,” Prof. John Opuda told graduands adding; ”You came to us to search for knowledge, skills, and self-development. We facilitated you to motivate yourself to become better and seek truth for personal, collective and common interests, rights and obligations. These are virtues that should characterize you for VU endeavoured to make you a total graduate whose abilities stretch beyond academics for their sake.”

Minister of Higher Education Dr John Chrysestom Muyingo who represented the Minister of Education & Sports dubbed first lady Janet Kataha Museveni applauded the remarkable transformations and innovations that have ranked Victoria University the best in the region.

”Being a minister in this capacity, I attend graduations almost every day but trust me I have never seen descent students like these I have seen here. At some Universities, students are almost naked! I want to thank Victoria University management for the unique upbringing of our students,’’ said Muyingo adding, ”To our dear parents, allow me to inform you that your children at Victoria University are in safe pair of hands. This is a University that has never been in news for strikes like some Universities in this country.”
