Wanted: Security Hunts Down Political Activist Ramadhan Kabera Over People Power Mobilization

The information reaching our desk reveals that Ugandan security operatives are hunting for one of the top opposition activists who were vocal in defending human rights, especially of the traders in Kampala against injustices and harassment of Ugandans which has given the Ugandan government sleepless nights due to his strong voice.

In corridors of power, Ramadhan Kabera has been a vital member of the newly formed vibrant pressure group People Power which led to the formation of the opposition party National Unity Platform ‘NUP’ led by singer, politician Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi AKA Bobi is challenging incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who has been in power for more than 36 years.

Sources have landed on the plans by Ugandan government agencies searching for Ramadhan Kabera due to his fearless plans to rescue and advocate for justice for several Ugandans who are wallowing in dungeons and stifling their freedom.

Ugandan security operatives considered Ramadhan who started fighting for human rights when he joined activism and politics because of injustices and abuse of human rights in Uganda.

As a young man, around 2001, Kabera joined the business world in Kampala city and opened a wholesale shop in the
Kikuubo business area is a busy and vibrant hub downtown.

It is said that in 2003, he started travelling to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to import goods for business
which was very profitable at this point.

For the next decade, he continued running his store, travelling to Dubai and starting a family.

In June 2014, he decided to relocate to Dubai and started working at a freight and shipping company named Jacagu Cargo LLC and Freight Systems as he continued to export goods to Uganda for business.

During the years, he had worked with his wife and trained her on how to manage the business.

So she managed the business for him while he worked abroad.

He would come back to visit Uganda
every six months to see his wife and business.
In May 2019 while on a visit to Uganda, he was approached by a friend and business colleague Jjagwe Mohammed told him to support a new opposition force led by a young vibrant men called People Power which had a goal to bring an end to the brutal dictatorship in Uganda.

Being an active human rights defender, he picked an interest in this opposition force because his business had declined due to the insecurity in the country.

The Government was levying large taxes on imports which severely affected the businesses of traders.

As the protests against the injustices in the country increased, the activists started to realize many of their friends were disappearing.
Some people close to him like Umar Mugisha, Abubakar Rugema, Mugenyi Alex and others went missing, and no one could find them.

He started to notice my vehicle was
always tailed by unknown persons in civilian clothes.

However, due to their commitment
and zeal to remove the dictatorship and free people from many years of misrule, they continued with our political fight.

On October 5, 2022, during a political rally in Katalemwa, the Ugandan police and other non-uniformed security personnel surrounded the venue of the meeting and started arresting everybody present at the meeting.
Unfortunately, he was arrested together with so many other opposition supporters and taken to Nsangi police station.

During the arrests, a lot of shootings
happened and some of the supporters were hurt.

Security operatives were so angry with Kabera due to his mobilization skills.
They beat him so hard that he hurt his back badly by kicking and urinating all over his body.

While in jail, the police would ask them about the plans of the NUP, and about all the people that we knew were involved.

After a lot of negotiations, all political prisoners were released on police bond on October 8, 2022, and set to return to police on October 22, 2022.

After his release security put him on surveillance his elder brother Sebigomba Zuberi was arrested on October 5th.

After such jail incident, his health was not good because of all the trauma he endured.

After learning that the state was planning to arraign him in court and imprison him MPs like Muhammed Segirinya and Alan Sewanyana were arrested and imprisoned for long
periods.

He decided to go into hiding for his dear life.Ever since, that time security has been hunting for Kabera which has led to interrogating his family members and friends to know his whereabouts.
