Evolve Group Africa is poised to orchestrate the third iteration of the Uganda Marketing Excellence Awards (UMEAS), marking a significant occasion in the realm of corporate recognition.

The grand affair, anticipated as the apex for marketers, will unfold on December 1st in a lavish, black-tie gala hosted at the Kampala Serena Hotel.

According to organisers, the forthcoming UMEAS gala is primed to eclipse its predecessors, boasting an unprecedented surge in submissions. The keen anticipation builds as a substantial number of entries from the most prominent corporate entities in Kampala have been tendered for evaluation. The much-anticipated announcement, scheduled for next week, will unveil the finalists who have made the cut for this year’s coveted awards.

A staggering 200-plus entries, hailing from over 50 of Uganda’s foremost brands, have been meticulously assembled. Among the contributors are the elite; encompassing leading banks, top-tier telecom companies, distinguished fast-moving consumer goods brands, and preeminent marketing and creative agencies, among other industry stalwarts.

Contrary to conventional expectations, the awards are not confined to well-established corporate giants. Small and medium-sized enterprises have also thrown their hats into the ring, vying for acknowledgement in this year’s nominations. However, these entries will undergo rigorous scrutiny, subject to stringent criteria, in the pursuit of crafting a definitive list of nominees.

The responsibility of winnowing down these entries lies in the capable hands of a judicious six-member jury. This assembly comprises esteemed industry professionals meticulously chosen based on leadership acumen, contributions to the profession, extensive experience, and academic qualifications. Their mandate extends beyond overseeing the entire nomination process; they are tasked with selecting the winners across the six distinct categories of the awards.

With the announcement of award nominations looming, the jury diligently concludes their assessments to distil a list of finalists. Some will undergo public scrutiny through voting, while others will be exclusively decided by the jury. All victorious contenders will be unveiled in the grandeur of the gala night.

The meticulous selection of the jury underscores the commitment to professionalization, credibility, transparency, and fairness throughout the awards process. The distinguished panel includes Dr Benedict Mugerwa, the Head of Professional Marketing Courses at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), Ngulumi Immaculate Nabatte, Chief Manager Marketing and Branding at Centenary Bank, John Paul Okwi, Senior Manager Events and Sponsorships at MTN Uganda, Rogers Anguzu, Commercial Director at Crown Beverages Limited, Barbara Arimi, Head of Marketing and Communications at NSSF, and Jackie Namara Rukare, CEO of Iguru Consult Limited.

The top echelons of brands will engage in a spirited competition across 12 categories, with three innovative categories introduced for the current year. Attendance at this distinguished event commands a corporate table investment of 2 million shillings, while individual tickets are priced at 100,000 shillings. CIM students can avail themselves of a discounted rate at Ugx 75,000.
