The acting president of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Katonga faction, Erias Lukwago, has warned party leaders who wish to express interest in different leadership positions of the party against picking forms from the Najjanankumbi party headquarters, which is under the leadership of Engineer Patrick Amuriat Oboi, the party president, and Nathan Nandala Mafabi, the secretary general.
During the press conference held on Thursday, January 11, 2024, Lukwago said that the forms from Najjanankumbi are not authentic and will not help such members be recognized as leaders in the party because those at Najjanankumbi are not the leaders of the FDC party.
“They are imposters who delivered their darling party to President Museveni. Nobody should hoodwink you into thinking that we have issued forms for expressions of interest to begin jostling for party leadership positions. That program is not for FDC. Whoever indulges in this program is on their own,“ Lukwago said.
“That is not a party program, and of course, we know who is sponsoring it. It is Museveni,” he added.
Lukwago appealed to the party members to hold onto the forthcoming programmes of the Katonga faction, including the National Delegates Conference scheduled for March 15, 2024.
However, during an interview with a Nexus Media reporter, John Kikonyogo, the spokesperson at Najjanankumbi, said that he will address Lukwago and his allegations on Monday, January 15, 2024, in a press conference expected to take place at Najjanankumbi.
On December 30, 2023, the Najjanankumbi leadership issued a letter inviting all individuals interested in contesting under the FDC flag to express their interest from January 12 to March 5, 2024.(nexus media)
