The Joint Security Forces have arrested the prime suspects linked to Karamoja murders and robberies, and one firearm has been recovered with three live rounds of ammunition.
On Thursday, July 25, 20224, Major Isaac Oware, the Public Information Officer III Division Moroto, confirmed this development in a statement.
According to Maj. Oware, the prime suspect, identified as Bosco Lukwakori, is a resident of Mamulope Village, Losilang Parish, North Division, Kotido Municipality, Kotido District, who has been on the wanted list since 2021.
“The prime suspect who has been profited and wanted since 2021 is Lukwakori Bosco, a male adult and a resident of Mamulope Village, Losilang Parish, North Division, Kotido Municipality, Kotido district. He was arrested, and firearm number 1515 with three live rounds of ammunition was recovered from him,” Maj. Oware stated.
He identified the other suspects as Aleu Lomeri, a resident of Kaitach village, Kachem Chem Parish in Kalapata Town Council, Kaabong district, and Komol Longole, a resident of Moruedikae village in Kalapata Town Council, Kaabong district.
“On July 24, the apprehended warriors were part of the sinister group that waylaid civilians along Kamion-Nawontosi road in Kaabong district and robbed an unspecified amount of money and property,” Oware added.
He further said that the criminals have been terrorizing people in areas of Kamioni, Timu, and Kalapata in Kaabong district and also masterminded the abduction of one Joseph Lowol Nalapa, who went missing until July 24, 2024, when the late decomposed body was recovered by security detectives in the wilderness of Kaabong district.
He said that the trio will be tried in a court of law on charges including illegal gun possession, murder, and robbery, among other offenses.
The trio are currently in custody at III Division headquarters, Moroto army barracks, awaiting additional inquiry and potential legal action.nexus
