Empowering Communities Through Wealth Creation
In her address, Ambassador Nekesa passionately urged the congregation to embrace government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga, designed to uplift households from poverty. She highlighted practical income-generating activities such as poultry farming, goat rearing, and other small-scale ventures as realistic pathways to financial independence.
“You cannot be a true believer or worshipper unless you have money in your pocket,” Nekesa told the congregation, stressing the importance of self-reliance in personal and community growth. She encouraged the people of Busia to maximize their God-given talents and available resources to build sustainable livelihoods.
A Call for Self-Reliance and Transformation
Reflecting on her journey from humble beginnings in Busia to a position of national leadership, Nekesa challenged the residents to take charge of their own destiny. “The transformation of Busia lies in our hands. Let’s not wait for others to build what we are capable of creating ourselves,” she said, drawing applause from the audience.
Her donation to the Busia Pastors’ Forum marked the beginning of what she described as a long-term partnership to uplift faith-based communities. She pledged to continue supporting Busia’s development and to advocate for programs that empower residents economically and socially.
Hope for a Brighter Future
The event, infused with prayers, worship, and optimism, showcased the growing synergy between faith and development in Busia. Leaders at the gathering praised Ambassador Nekesa’s generosity and visionary leadership, describing her as a beacon of hope for the district.
