Women leaders in the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) have commended Ugandan MP Carol Kamusiime for her exceptional leadership in advancing the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) and advocating for women’s rights.
As the 1st Vice President of the PAP Women’s Caucus, Kamusiime has been instrumental in pushing for policy reforms to enhance women’s participation in leadership and decision-making. She has called on African governments to amend laws that protect and empower women, ensuring equal opportunities in political, social, economic, and cultural spheres.
Speaking at the International Women’s Day Commemoration in Midrand, South Africa, from March 7 to 11, 2025, Kamusiime emphasized the importance of investing in women’s development.
The event, hosted by PAP and the African Union Development Agency–NEPAD, provided a platform for leaders to discuss strategies for promoting gender equality and strengthening women’s role in Africa’s growth.

The discussions focused on key areas such as women’s economic empowerment, leadership opportunities, and access to resources. Participants highlighted the need for increased investment in programs that support women’s advancement across all sectors.
