‘Tools of Prosperity’: Central Youth MP Hopeful Begira Urges Young People to Lead Uganda’s Farming Revolution

Lwengo, Uganda – As Uganda intensifies efforts to empower its youth and modernise agriculture, aspiring Central Youth MP Hon. Begira Samuel has stepped into the spotlight with a renewed call to action, aligning his mission with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s vision of “Prosperity Through Modern Farming.”

On 13th April, Hon. Begira met with youth leaders from Lwengo and Lyantonde Districts in a spirited engagement aimed at galvanising grassroots participation in agriculture as a vehicle for economic transformation.

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Begira described the gathering as a “convergence of passionate minds and dedicated hearts,” united by a commitment to build a self-reliant and prosperous Uganda.

He called attention to the importance of youth leadership in delivering on the promises of the agricultural revolution.

In a symbolic gesture, he distributed agricultural tools to participating youth leaders—what he called “humble but powerful symbols of possibility.” The tools, he explained, represent a broader investment in people and potential.

“We must begin to see farming not as a last resort, but as a frontier of innovation and independence,” Hon. Begira said. “Our young people are not just dreaming of change—they are prepared to lead it.”

He praised the energy and determination of the youth in attendance, encouraging them to carry the message of modern farming into their communities.

He reiterated that their role in the AGRO-Focused campaign is central to Uganda’s broader development goals.

The AGRO-Focused initiative, according to Hon. Begira, aims to harness shared knowledge, resources, and resilience to turn challenges into opportunities. The campaign aligns with government priorities around food security, job creation, and sustainable development.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Begira called on Ugandans across the country to redefine patriotism—not through slogans, but through action, productivity, and a renewed commitment to national progress.

“This meeting may be a small step,” he said, “but it’s one that, if we walk it together, could lead to monumental change.”

The visit to Lwengo and Lyantonde is expected to be the first of many as the aspiring MP continues his tour across the Central Region, championing youth-led agricultural transformation.
