Dr Stella Nyanzi, a scholar and human rights advocate living in Germany as a refugee, has been denied re-entry due to her constant conflicts, arguments, and gossiping with other asylum seekers. They claim to live in fear of her harsh words and her habit of stripping naked while arguing.
In April, 2025, Nyanzi spent weeks attacking and sharing private details about the marital problems of exiled Kakwenza Rukirabashija and his wife, Eva Basiima, who live with their children in a house provided by PEN Germany’s writers-in-exile program. She was asked to delete her Twitter posts about the matter, but she refused.
Sources from PEN Germany say that Astrid Vehstedt, the vice president of PEN, advised Nyanzi to remove her posts and apologize to the other exiles for her inappropriate behavior. However, she refused.
“Nyanzi instead chose to abuse Vehstedt and told him that she is aware he has always had an interest in her and that if he wanted a piece of her, all he had to do was to ask peacefully and not use his stupid tactics on her,” the source stated.
The source went on to reveal that Nyanzi, not getting the required response she had hoped for, went ahead and did a bend-over for Vehstedt while naked with no underwear, which left the man puffed at her indecent behavior.
“As refugees living in Germany, we are given specific rules and guidelines to follow, but Nyanzi has completely failed to adhere to any, and all she does is gossip and attack anyone who tries to correct her or advise her otherwise,” the source added.
Therefore we are not shocked at all that she has been barred from reentry to Germany after her short visit to Kenya. Vehstedt will not let her return without her offering an apology to him in writing and promising to never do it again.
This follows Nyanzi taking to her Twitter handle and accusing a German official only identified as Constantine of denying her re-entry; according to Nyanzi, he claimed that she is not a refugee in Germany.
