Lt.Col.Nakalema Arrests Four Senior Police Officers Over Tycoon Abid Alam’s Kasanda Land Atrocities

Following the arrest of Business man Abid Alam on Thursday April, 9, 2020, over allegations of aggrevated torture, Gang rape and malicious damage of property, the State House Anti corruption Unit together with the Directorate of CID have rrested four senior police officers attached to Kasanda district in Wamala region.

The arrested officers include the Regional CID officer Wamala, SP Wanyama Wilber Ostin, DPC Kasanda, ASP Owellano Daniel, OCCID Kasanda, ASP Beitera Peter and the In charge CID Records Sgt. Azale.

Lt.Col Edith Nakalema the head of Anti corruption unit revealed that the above arr accused for allegedly mismanaging case files, conspiracy to defeat justice and professional misconduct in relation to cases reported against Abid Alam.
“We shall produce them in courts of law the moment their files are ready ” she said.

Nakalema’s team first arrested businessman Abid Alam on thursday over Mubende land wrangles where residents were injured during a weekend scuffle.

It is alleged that Abim ordered for destroying property and injuring people during the ill fated eviction at the weekend.

Addressing the media on Thursday, April 04, Lt. Col. Nakalema said Mr. Abid is being investigated over the alleged atrocities including attempted murder and unlawful destruction of property in Bukoba, Kassanda District.

Lt. Col.Nakalema said that she has since received over 27 cases from Wamala region police commander pinning the businessman.

“Evil acts including gang rapping and attempted murder and I happened to hear from the a lady who was raped; it hurt me and it is not acceptable in this country”.

SP Bob Kagarura the Wamala Regional Police Commander said that three people, all employees working for Mr. Arthur Mugyenyi, an employee of the Predident’s Office were injured in the said eviction.

Mr. Mugyenyi said that his three acres of banana plantations were destroyed; two houses of his employees destroyed and in addition to killing some goats, the suspects also took 20 cows and 50 goats.

Mr.Mugenyi is accusing Abid Alam, a Ugandan businessman of Asian extraction for masterminding the attack.

Over the weekend Mr. Abid Alam’s agents claimed that Mr. Mugyenyi had stage-managed the eviction to malign the businessman.

They denied the charges against the businessman who for long has been embroiled embroiled in a 13-acre land row in areas of Bukoba, Kakungubwe sub-county. The case is before Mubende High Court.
