The Inspector General of Police J.M Okoth Ochola has today passed out officers who have been under going the Non commissioned Officers refresher course at Police Training School Kabalye-Masindi.
The 482 officers graduated included 253 Senior NCOs (Seargents) and 229 Junior NCOs (Corporals) and all completed the course successfully.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Major General Sabiiti Muzeeyi who represented the IGP said that, NCOs are very important in the administration of the police force and their level is to demonstrate leadership at their places of work.
He reminded them of the key responsibilities and roles ahead of them and these cited,the role of personnel accountability, discipline, cleanliness, physical fitness,advisory role among others.
“The roles of NCOs were degazzated in the late 90’s, we are going to hard to regazzate it,” Muzeeyi said.
The Director Human Resource Development, Mr.Haruna Isabilye noted that,the course was part of effort to restoration of systems and encouraged the officers to exhibit good leadership and not to bring shame to the force.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of Police Training School Kabalye, ACP Ziwedde Abubaker commended the officers, Trainers and external facilitators who came to add value to the course.
He said that, NCOs are front line managers and they are charged with enforcing discipline in the lower levels, monitor and supervise various activities put up by superior commanders, law enforcement, Human rights and crime prevention
The function was also attended by various dignitaries and local leaders who among them included,the NRM Chairperson Masindi district, Hon.Kabakumba Masiko, Commanding officer Field Artillery, Representative for Commandant Military Police, Directors and Heads of Departments of the police force,Religious and Cultural leaders and other members of the community
