Police in Entebbe have arrested a senior officer ASP Edward Bua for allegedly burning his mother to death.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police deputy spokesman ASP Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed lawyer Bua’s arrest and revealed that investigation into burning of Margaret Nyakuni Onzia to death on Saturday morning had commenced.
“The territorial Police at Entebbe are investigating a murder and arson of Nyakuni Margaret Onzia, 66, the deputy director Uganda Nurses and Midwife Council, Kampala, and a resident of Bugonga in Entebbe Municipality, Wakiso District” Owoyesigyire noted.
The deceased, Margaret Nyakuni Onzia, who was the deputy director Uganda Nurses and Midwife Council, Kampala.
Owoyesigyire added “The incident happened today (Saturday) at her residence in Bugonga. It was reported to police and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Services responded to the scene and extinguished the fire”
Owoyesigyire revealed that the suspect is currently detained at Entebbe Police Station as investigations go on to ascertain his motive.
“It is alleged that ASP Bua locked his mother inside the bed room before locking the main house and later setting it a blaze at around 3am this morning. Upon his arrest, a match box was recovered on him” he said.
