The father of the deceased Speaker Jacob Oulanyah, Nathan Okori has said his son did not die of natural causes and that he was poisoned.
He has however quickly asked that his death is not politicised.
Okori was quoted telling a handful of mourners at their ancestral home in Omoro District saying Oulanyah’s death is not easy news to welcome insisting his son was poisoned and that whatever people will say, it should not distort the information they have.
He adds that his son revealed the cause of his illness which suddenly began manifesting publicly after he became speaker last year in May before travelling for specialised medical care in the US.
He adds that Oulanyah called him and promised him certain things. He however doesn’t say who may have planned his son’s death or why.
Meanwhile, Contradicting Statements on the death of Oulanyah from the Minister Of Health, Jane Ruth Aceng and Deputy Speaker, Anita Among have also risen dust.
These statements surrounding the sickness and death of Oulanyah have brought so many questions on the death of Oulanyah and what truly happened before they pronounced him dead yesterday.
Dr. Jane Ruth said the speaker died before he got treatment.
“Speaker Jacob Oulanyah died before he got the treatment, all this time, they were trying to stabilize him.”
However, earlier, the Deputy Speaker had told the country that the Speaker was responding to treatment. She said this via her Twitter as soon as she reached the US where he was receiving treatment.
“Together with close friends; His Lordship Alphonse Owiny Dollo, Hon. Nobert Mao and Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng; I have visited Rt Hon Speaker Jacob Oulanyah at his Hospital Bed in Seattle. He is receiving and responding to treatment.
The information minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi has since disregarded the poison claims saying they should await for a post mortem report.
