An incident at KAJLYN Estates in Kungu, Wakiso District, has drawn public attention after a tenant was reportedly assaulted by a security guard employed at the apartment complex.

The property is allegedly to be owned by the Minister of State for Investment and Privatization, Evelyn Anite.

The altercation, which occurred on November 11, allegedly began when the guard, identified as Fred, refused to open the gate for a female tenant. The tenant, frustrated by the delay, attempted to open the gate herself, which led to a physical confrontation. Witnesses claim Fred reacted violently, injuring the tenant.

The injured tenant was assisted by neighbors, who intervened and took her to a nearby hospital for treatment. Following the incident, she filed a report with Kungu Police Post under file number 16/8/11/2024.

When police arrived at the scene to investigate, they discovered that Fred had fled. Efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Subsequently, some tenants who supported the victim have reportedly received eviction notices. This development has caused concern among residents, with some questioning the handling of the incident and its aftermath.

The matter has sparked public debate, with calls for authorities to conduct a thorough investigation to ensure justice for the victim and accountability for those involved.

As the investigation continues, tenants at KAJLYN Estates are seeking reassurance regarding their safety and the resolution of the situation.

Our efforts to talk to minister Anite by press time were futile by press time as her contact wasn’t going through.
