FDC, DA Meeting Fails To Bear Fruits For Democratic Transition

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) hosted a crucial meeting with the Democratic Alliance Uganda on Monday afternoon at the party’s headquarters in Najjankumbi.

The meeting was led by the Democratic Alliance’s coordinator, Rt. Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, and attended by top FDC leaders, including Party President Hon. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, National Chairman Hon. Jack Sabiiti, Deputy President Ms. Wafula Madanda, and Vice Chairman Mr. Wante Jamal.

This high-level engagement underscored FDC’s commitment to fostering alliances with organizations championing democratic progress and constitutional reforms in Uganda.

During the meeting, the Democratic Alliance presented a series of proposals centered on constitutional amendments and strategies for a peaceful power transition. These proposals, aimed at addressing critical governance issues, were well-received by the FDC leadership, who commended the alliance for its dedication to shaping Uganda’s future through dialogue and collective action.

Hon. Amuriat expressed FDC’s readiness to consider the proposals, stating that they would be forwarded to the party’s relevant decision-making organs for review and deliberation. He reaffirmed the party’s dedication to creating partnerships that align with its vision for a democratic and equitable Uganda.

“This engagement reflects our shared commitment to building a nation founded on justice, accountability, and inclusive governance,” Amuriat said.

The meeting also highlighted FDC’s open-door policy, which encourages collaboration with like-minded individuals and organizations. Both parties reiterated the importance of unity among progressive forces in addressing Uganda’s political, social, and economic challenges.

The Democratic Alliance leadership expressed optimism about future collaborations, with Rt. Hon. Mpuuga praising FDC’s willingness to engage in constructive dialogue.

As Uganda continues its democratic journey, the partnership between FDC and the Democratic Alliance signals a growing push for reforms and strengthened opposition unity.
