Kampala Metropolitan Police have warned a group of people disguising as motorcycle (boda boda) operators who are planning to stage demonstrations to disrupt government systems to ease the boda boda curfew hours that they will be dealt with accordingly.

According to Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, they received credible information that opportunistic people led by one Tonny Lubowa, a.k.a Mawejje are mobilizing hooligans and disguise them to carry out demonstrations of blowing of whistles, vuvuzelas, hooting, banging items like saucepans and kettles to disrupt government systems which are illegal.

He said that according to the National Environment Regulation 2003, (Noise Standards and Control) these proposed acts of hooting and yelling are illegal. And any one who violates the law will be dealt with accordingly.

He says that intelligence information indicates that these demonstrations are being planned, mobilized and sponsored by opportunistic people within in areas of Rubaga, Kawempe, Kampala Central, Makindye and Nakawa Divisions.

“We want to appeal to the public, especially boda boda operators, not to be lured into illegal activities by opportunistic people, who are working for their own benefits. We caution anyone who intends to engage in criminal activities that the long arm of the law will catch up with them” Onyango warned.
