Top Model Uganda Certifies 20 Top Fashion Models For Their Grand Finale 

Top Model Uganda has selected 20 models to participate in the finals at Mestil Hotel on 4th December 2022.

The event, which took place at Nexus Lounge, Najjera, started at 7 pm was attended in large numbers by models supporters and well-wishers.

Datnon Bartlette, the evening’s host kicked off the show with introductions of the judges who were: Former Miss Uganda, Sylvia Namutebi Alibhai, Textile and fashion designer, Brenda Maraka and Dr. Jimmy Spire Ssentongo, university professor and renowned cartoonist.

The guest of honour , the former president of Uganda Law Society Ms Pheona Nabasa Wall gave an opening speech in which she hailed Top model Worldwide that is based in the United Kingdom for making Uganda part of them.

“This has opened up a platform for young talented individuals that want to join the fashion and arts industry,” she said. She also pointed out that the current generation of Uganda are youths who need guidance, and a chance to grow their talents in a safe space, such as Top Model Uganda is providing.

“Uganda has a lot of talent but most lack a platform where they can be discovered and we are glad Top Model Uganda is bridging that gap. Soon we will have our talented youth show case on an international platform,” Wall added.

This was reflected in the showcase line up where the first two fashion lines were creations from two of the participating contestants.

Ms Allen Lule, the CEO of Top Model Uganda said that more than just modelling, Top Model Uganda promotes health awareness on issues like sexual health and endometriosis, teaches basic skills and provides training for the girls in areas like professionalism and others.

“Charity begins at home and so I encourage all the contestants to support one another because they are now a family under the Top Model Uganda Family. We he have models, designers , dancers ,photographers , makeup artists , nail technicians and singers who have all so far benefited from our platform,” she further revealed.

Lule thanked every one that worked behind the cameras and they include Sula Kamoga, the event head, Rebecca Nalunga the fashion show producer , model coach Ken Prince, Jemba Rajab of vato ink , Aerial Clovis of Aerial photography , Diana Lule, Enid Akum and all her family and friends.

“The runway, designs and lighting were all great and we give special thanks to Nexus Events and their team and all the designers -credit goes to each and every one!” Lule said.

By the end of the night 9 female models had been eliminated.

“This was very sad for everyone involved as it has been a long journey for them all. Unfortunately we had to do this. We had male models too as we believe in diversity, equality and inclusion. You are all welcome to our finals slated for the 4th of December at Mestil hotel.

The night was closed by an electrifying performance by popular artiste Vinka.
