Security agencies have arrested Anthony Twinomujuni, commonly known as Bobi Young, a resident of Mutungo zone Nakawa Division in Kampala, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, after carrying out an intelligence-led operation at his home.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, on searching Bobi Young’s premises, items including ranks resembling those of a UPDF 4 Star General, walkie-talkies, berets resembling those of military police, and two pairs of desert military shoes were recovered.

Onyango said that Bobi Young is accused of inciting violence, rioting, and unlawfully possessing government stores.

He added that the suspect was handed over to the Joint Anti-Terrisom Teamforce (JATT) for further management and pledged that the operation would continue.
“For other individuals and groups, unauthorized duplication and manipulation of rank insignia and accoutrements of the police and other sister agencies such as the UPDF and Prisons Services is a violation of the laws under the UPDF Act, Penal Code, and other statutory instruments that gazette the uniforms,” Onyango said.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has been at the centre of this debate, with several of its followers imprisoned during the current crackdown.

Dr Chris Baryomunsi, the Minister of ICT & NG, reiterated the Executive’s commitment to rooting out any attire resembling security wear, regardless of its origin.nexus
