Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) party has called upon Ugandans to embrace president Museveni’s call of “Buy Uganda Build Uganda” (BUBU) as a way to reduce dependency on foreign funding. The call was made Wednesday by UPC party Spokesperson Sharon Ayat Arach, who, while addressing the media at UPC party headquarters in Kampala, said Ugandans should not compromise on their cultural norms and values in light of the pressure exerted by foreign donors. Ayat’s call follows a recent decision by the World Bank to freeze funding for new projects in Uganda over the assenting into law of the Anti-Homosexuality Law.
