M7 Promotes Two ISO Bosses & More 394 UPDF Officers

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has promoted the Head of Internal Security Organisation (ISO) and his Deputy, along with 393 more UPDF officers.

In a list released on January 31, 2024, President Museveni, also the Commander in Chief of all the armed forces in Uganda, promoted Colonel Charles Oluka, the Director General of ISO, to the rank of Brigadier, while his deputy, Lt. Col. Emmy Katabazi, has also been promoted to the rank of Colonel.

Brig Gen Felix Kulayigye, the UPDF Spokesperson, said that four senior officers who had been acting Colonels have also been confirmed Colonels, 18 officers at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel were promoted to Colonel, and five Acting Lieutenant Colonels have been elevated to Lieutenant Colonel.

He added that President Museveni also promoted a total of 61 officers from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel, while two officers who had previously been acting Majors were elevated to the rank of Major.

Brig Gen Kulayigye said that a total of 92 officers have been promoted from the rank of Captain to Major, two officers who had been Acting Captains have also been confirmed Captains, and 210 officers have been promoted from the rank of Lieutenant to Captain.

“The Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs and the UPDF fraternity congratulate the senior and junior officers upon their well-deserved promotions,” Brig Gen Kulayigye said.

In recent months, President Museveni, during his various public addresses, openly praised and congratulated the Internal Security Organisation for successfully conducting various intelligence-led operations that exposed corruption practices in government and operations against the Allied Democratic Forces.

This is the second promotion and appointment being conducted in the Army by President Museveni this January.

Last week, President Museveni appointed Colonel Allan Matsiko as Commander of the 303 Brigade; Colonel JB. Asinguza was also appointed as Commander 1 SFG; Lieutenant Colonel Bagonza was promoted to Colonel and appointed Commander 2 SFG; and Colonel Seruyange was appointed a Director under the SFC, among others.(Nexus media)
