Min.Anite To M7: Mafias Are Killing Me Soon Over UTL Audit

State Minister of Finance and Investment Hon Evelyn Anite has claimed that mafia in government are after her life and want to end it because of the ongoing audit saga at Uganda Telecom Limited.

She was Monday addressing press on matters of national importance at ministry of Finance Boardroom.

Anite says she has information that the mafia want to kill her and that the mafia have been holding meetings at various locations in Kampala for the plot.

She named Uganda Registration Services Bureau and Kampala Club as some of the locations.

Anite further told press that her phones are being tapped by the same.

“These mafias are not jokers. Go and ask Abiriga [RIP]. I will die while shouting that the mafias are coming until they take me down.”

She added: “They follow me and they are tapping my phone. You know the mafias, those who have been trying to block the audit.”

Denies links with Mauritius company

Anite’s outcry comes at a time a whistleblower asked the Inspectorate of Government to investigate her for allegedly taking bribes from a Mauritius company.

“I am writing to the IGG to invite her investigate me on how I am doing my job. I want to make it clear, I have no travel ban against me,” Anite said in response.

“I am the minister for privatization and my mandate is to bring in foreign investors,” she explained.

On why she suspiciously travelled to Mauritius from USA without anyone’s knowledge, Anite said:

“They will fight those who stand up for the truth, I travelled to pursue my academics and news back home was that I had fled the country.”

She completely denied the connection: “I have no relationship with Mauritius Telecom Company.”

Anite claims she was prompted by the report by Financial Intelligence Authority [FIA] to support the Mauritius company.

“My name has been tarnished but I will continue fighting for the truth. The plan by the mafias is to take Anite out of the picture, I might die but history will judge them.”

“Do not live in denial. We shall chase the wrong people out of government and bring the right ones. How do you put public funds on private accounts?”

Anite said she is not seeking attention because “these are facts”.

“I have been hearing some Ugandans saying “You girl from Koboko, what do you know? You are just a worker. This government belongs to Banyankole”. That is not what I heard from my president.”edgeug
